Tea Tree Oil Shampoo for Sensitive Scalps

It’s been a minute since my last product review! I’m no beauty guru, but I'm super passionate about hair care. I’ve always had somewhat healthy hair until about 2 years ago, something felt off... I couldn’t really pinpoint it, other than a probable mixture of a sulfate allergy, moving to another state (soft/hard water pressure varies by location, and it matters!), hopping on the balayage bandwagon + of course, aging.

As if those weren't enough reasons, I got my first sunburn of the season in the most painful area— my scalp! Thanks to a fresh aloe vera plant, the redness subsided a couple of days later... however, my scalp started peeling in literal layers. & it sucked. I still felt as if my scalp was flaky the remainder of the summer and noticed that the amount of hair falling out in the shower was a bit more than usual. Fast forward to fall/winter: the flaking never really stopped per se, but I did start to notice an abundance of baby hairs popping up sporadically across my scalp.

Back in March, a brand called Maple Holistics reached out to see if I’d like to try their Silk18 Shampoo. I was still trying to figure out what on earth was going on with my hair/scalp, and quite frankly, I was hesitant to try. My hair didn’t feel healthy enough to start exploring new hair care brands, but I was super into the fact that Maple Holistics only carries natural, paraben & sulfate-free products. I scoped out their Product Page and saw they offer a Tea Tree oil line. I went from feeling like an unfamiliar brand was the last thing my head needed, to realizing tea tree oil is actually what my head was missing.

There are so many benefits of adding tea tree oil to your skincare routine. Not only does it fight bacteria, but it also has natural soothing properties. After a quick bachelorette trip to Cancun in April, Maple Holistic's Tea Tree Oil Shampoo saved my sunburnt scalp! I urge you to give this product a try if you experience dry, itchy or sensitive scalp. If you can't get past the strong scent of tea tree, choose one of Maple Holistic's many all natural, paraben, sulfate & cruelty-free shampoos and conditioners. Can totally say I'm a fan of this New Jersey-based brand!
