I Can't Believe It's Not Foundation ▸ My Mon-Fri Beauty Drill

True life: I don't wear foundation. As much as that may be a surprise to you, it's even more of a surprise to me when I tell people and I get a SUPER surprised reaction. I first wore foundation in 7th grade, piling bronzer on top of it. This was during the time that digital cameras were so damn cool. Once I entered high school and "looked back" at my pictures, I was absolutely mortified. Aside from the fact that my skin tone fluctuates more than my weight, I'm either afraid to find the perfect match (also fearing that match may not be perfect to others) or just straight up traumatized.

So what do I wear on my face?! Here's my Monday to Friday beauty drill that not only makes me look and feel alive, but is just as important as my morning coffee.

BB Cream in light/medium  |  Chocolate Soileil bronzer in medium/deep  |  Retractable Kabuki Brush

Creating my canvas » after moisturizing, which is so so important btw, I apply BB cream with my fingers in a circular motion as if it's any other cream. Side note: I purchased the above BB cream about three months ago and never touched it until three weeks ago.... THAT intimidated by anything liquid & tinted. Since the summer started to fade as well as my tan, I gave into Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream and all I can say is wow. As far as uneven blotchy skin goes, I really don't know why I haven't touched this bottle sooner. I had always heard really great things about BB cream, so if you're hesitant to give it a try too, this product is perfect for your phobia. Grab it online here.

Once dry, I apply bronzer using my kabuki brush also in a circular motion. I know, ugh, bronzer is totally Jersey of me - but I swear I get a cold sweat if my face is one shade lighter than the rest of my body. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer gets the job done because it's matte and super lightweight.... not to mention it smells amazing because it's infused with cocoa powder. My Real Techniques Retractable Kabuki Brush is the shit for application because 1) it's slanted & versatile 2) it's dense enough for buffing and blending, and 3) it's my travel companion.

|  HD Concealer in 06  |

iStrobe » with concealer. & if that's wrong, I don't wanna be right. Never heard of strobing? It's kinda like highlighting & contouring, minus the contouring. And instead of using a highlighter [my second biggest fear after foundation = anything that shimmers], I use NYX Cosmetics HD Concealer under my eyes downward + up to cheekbone, on my forehead, bridge of nose, chin, and cupid's bow. I blend with my fingers because I can't seem to figure out beauty blenders just yet. Miranda from Slashed beauty has a great tutorial here.

I know that I said I am not myself without some bronzer, but I'm actually nowhere near alive without brightening those areas on top of it.

|  MAC Blush in Vintage Grape, discontinued, similar here  |

Cheeks on fleek » I have to dedicate this to one of my best girlfriends. While frolicking and day-boozing in college three years ago, we decided to run back to her room for a "bronzer break" (LMAO, I told you so) probably as per my request. She had this ombre blush by MAC Cosmetics in a gorgeous shade of plum, and I must have asked the name of it on five separate occasions since then. Turns out that Vintage Grape was discontinued, and two years later, she was nice enough to let me keep hers. Truest. Friend. Everrrrr.

I lightly apply MAC Cosmetics Blush in Vintage Grape on my cheekbones - huge emphasis on the lightly. Blush is amazing because no matter how fair skinned you're looking, it gives you that fabulous sun-kissed meets rosy-winter cheeks glow. Never had I ever considered blush in a plum shade, but give it a shot and grab a similar shade in "Fever' here.

spoolie  |  small angled brush  |  eyebrow gel in Clear  |  eye shadow in Carbon

Brows over bros » because duh. First, I brush my eyebrows in an upward motion using a wooden spoolie - you can grab one here. Anyone else brush their brows more than they brush their hair? The rest is pretty self explanatory, unless you haven't read My Daily Eyebrow Routine tutorial.

My E.L.F Small Angled Brush is super affordable and is amazing at lining & shading my brows. I use MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Carbon for enhancing my shape may seem intimidating at first, but is only as pigmented as how heavily you're using your brush. Lastly, I gentlyyyyy use Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Clear - just as I did in step 1 with my wooden spoolie, brushing upward.

|  liquid eye liner in blackest black  |

Blackest black gives you wings » this step may be optional for you, but a staple for me. During the week I don't feel a need for mascara - so feel free to swap this step for your lash love. Winged eyeliner is my way of dressing up naked eyelids without the hassle of damaging my eyelashes everyday and having to scrub off mascara every night. I use Milani Eye Tech Extreme Liquid Eye Liner, which is a drug dupe for Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner ($20).

Milani Eye Tech Extreme is the best drug store liquid eye liner I've ever tried - and yes I've tried many! I find that it's the easiest to use for casual AND dramatic wings. One swipe & you're good to go. Try not to rush it, liquid eyeliner senses fear. I've noticed that the Milani brand is carried in limited retail stores such as CVS + RiteAid, but you won't have any trouble grabbing it online here.

Throw on some lip color of choice & I'm out the door! That's that. What's your go-to foundation? Any recommendations as far as powder foundation? Send them my way :-).

XOXO
